On Friday, the Thunder Basin Bolts faced the Laramie Plainsmen in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Thunder Basin took a 57-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Plainsmen. Thunder Basin was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Plainsmen apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Thunder Basin's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kambel Cox, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds, and Allie Rodgers who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rodgers has scored all season.
Leading Laramie to victory were Kylin Shipman and Addison Forry. Shipman almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds, while Forry scored 19 points along with six steals. Shipman is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Carson Milam, who scored 12 points.
Thunder Basin has not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for Laramie, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-4.
Thunder Basin's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Bison at 11:30 a.m. on February 3rd. South is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak. As for Laramie, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Camels at 1:00 p.m. Campbell County is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 55.5 points per game this season.
