If the Raymondville Bearkats were feeling good off their 104-17 takedown of the Harmony School of Innovation Wildcats last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Raymondville was dealt a 79-35 defeat at the hands of Alice on Wednesday. Raymondville was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-18.
It was another big night for Calvin Villanueva, who scored 25 points along with eight assists for Alice. Those 25 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Pedro Rodriguez, who scored eight points along with eight steals and five assists.
Raymondville's defeat dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Alice, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-5.
Raymondville will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Agua Dulce at 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Alice won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Port Isabel at 3:00 p.m. on December 28th. Port Isabel will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
