After losing to the Mullins Auctioneers the last time they met, the Conway Tigers decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Conway walked away with a 41-33 victory over the Auctioneers on Saturday. Conway's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Conway's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Devin Grainger, who scored 11 points. Derek Grant was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Despite the loss, Mullins saw an underclassman step up: Dakarai Worley dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.
Mullins struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Conway pushed their record up to 11-10 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Mullins, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Conway will take on the Gamecocks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in South Carolina (Sumter is ranked 86th, while the Tigers are ranked 67th). As for Mullins, they will head out on the road to face off against the Swamp Foxes at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Marion will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
