The Burlington City Blue Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight defeat. They took a 60-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Doane Academy. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Burlington City of the 60-57 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.
Doane Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nick Fusco led the charge by scoring 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Colin Warman, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Burlington City has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 12 of their last 13 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-17 record this season. As for Doane Academy, their win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-14.
Burlington City will be playing at home against the Chimeras at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. Doane Academy's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Renegades at 10:00 a.m. on February 4th. Shawnee presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the in New Jersey (the Renegades are ranked 88th, while the are ranked 347th).
