After two games on the road, Jasper is heading back home. They will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Evansville Central Bears at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Jasper has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Last Saturday, Jasper beat Corydon Central 62-54.
Meanwhile, Evansville Central pushed their score all the way to 71 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They suffered a tough 94-71 defeat at the hands of New Albany. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Monday (68), Evansville Central still had to take the loss.
Evansville Central's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Landyn Richason, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds, and Daveon Smith who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. The contest was Richason's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyler Kirchoff, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Evansville Central were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Jasper now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Evansville Central, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 4-3.
Jasper strolled past Evansville Central when the teams last played back in December of 2022 by a score of 60-43. Will Jasper repeat their success, or does Evansville Central have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
