Chewelah is 8-2 against Asotin since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Cougars will welcome the Panthers at 1:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Chewelah 1.7, Asotin 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Chewelah is returning to their home field after beating Newport on theirs, despite the fact Newport has dominated at home this season. The Cougars walked away with a 4-1 win over the Grizzlies last Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.
Luke McGuire spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 17 Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up a single earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Nolan Jeanneret was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Miles Krausz was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Meanwhile, Asotin came tearing into Wednesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Grizzlies get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by seven runs or more this season.
CODY ELLS made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 15 over six innings pitched. ELLS was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on COLT KELLEY, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was SAM HALL, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.
Asotin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .407 or higher in four consecutive matches.
Chewelah's win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games. As for Asotin, their win bumped their record up to 18-4.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Chewelah hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .351. However, it's not like Asotin struggles in that department as they've averaged .345. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Chewelah couldn't quite finish off Asotin in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 11-9. Will the Cougars have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
