Countryside has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. The Countryside Cougars and the Palm Harbor University Hurricanes will face off at 7:45 p.m. on December 21st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Countryside's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matchups.
Even though Largo scored an imposing 62 points on Friday, Countryside still came out on top. Countryside managed a 68-62 victory over Largo.
Countryside's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Corey Perlin, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds. The contest was Perlin's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Carter Padags, who scored 16 points along with six assists.
Meanwhile, Palm Harbor University's game on Wednesday was all tied up 12-12 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 33-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of Alonso. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Palm Harbor University in their matchups with Alonso: they've now lost three in a row.
Countryside's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Palm Harbor University, they bumped their record down to 3-7 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.
Everything came up roses for Countryside against Palm Harbor University when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as the team secured a 69-22 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Countryside since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
