South El Monte is a perfect 10-0 against Marshall since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. South El Monte will venture away from home to square off against Marshall at 3:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (South El Monte has four straight wins, Marshall has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Tuesday, South El Monte made easy work of Rosemead and carried off a 21-3 victory. Considering the Eagles have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Desteny Sanchez looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, South El Monte got a massive performance out of Faith Magana, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Magana has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Katelyn Berumen, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.
South El Monte always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .775. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2025.
Meanwhile, Marshall fell victim to Arroyo and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Knights, falling 24-0. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Eagles were not able to get on the board.
Marshall saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Detwiler, who went 1-for-2 with one triple.
Marshall's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for South El Monte, their record is now 8-1-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. South El Monte has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Marshall struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went South El Monte's way against Marshall when the teams last played back in April of 2025, as South El Monte made off with a 16-1 win. Does South El Monte have another victory up their sleeve, or will Marshall turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
