Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Southern Fulton, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Northern Bedford County on Thursday, sneaking past 3-2. The win continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won four in a row.
The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Southern Fulton who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 23-25, 25-20, 24-26, 15-11.
Southern Fulton's win came from a few key players Forbes Road will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kamryn Pittman, who had 15 digs and two aces. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Hixon, who had eight digs and two aces.
Southern Fulton was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 16 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in three consecutive contests.
Forbes Road's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Southern Fulton, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
