On Tuesday, the Douglas County Huskies faced the Regis Jesuit Raiders in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Douglas County fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 66-64. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (62), Douglas County still had to take the loss.
Anthony Nettles and London Moore certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Nettles scored 17 points along with five assists and five steals, while Moore scored 17 points along with five assists and two steals. Nettles is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last six games he's played. Reilly Guerra was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight rebounds.
Even though they lost, Douglas County were working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Regis Jesuit only racked up 11 assists.
It was another big night for Lucas Dickinson, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds for Regis Jesuit. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Dickinson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Damarius Taylor, who scored 19 points.
Douglas County has not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-6 record this season. As for Regis Jesuit, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Douglas County will take on the Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Legend has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Regis Jesuit, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Heritage is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
