The Alexander Bulldogs will head out to challenge the United Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Alexander has given up an average of 7.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Alexander was handed a 16-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Laredo LBJ 12-11. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bulldogs considering their one-run performance the match before.
Deandra Martinez made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Martinez was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Carmen Perez was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Andrea Cantu was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Alexander was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .459. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask United). They blew past Laredo LBJ 14-3 on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Longhorns considering their one-run performance the game before.
Like Alexander, United also got a great game from a two-way player: Tatiana Mejia. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Mejia was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Regina Rodriguez, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Katelynn Pompa, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI and one double.
United moved to 9-19-1 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Alexander, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-18.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Alexander hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .345. However, it's not like United struggles in that department as they've averaged .313. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Alexander took their win against United when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 18-12 score. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Longhorns have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
