North Pocono is a perfect 10-0 against Delaware Valley since May of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Trojans will square off against the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. North Pocono is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.
North Pocono lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Wallenpaupack Area, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Saturday's match. The Trojans blew past the Buckhorns 7-1 on Saturday. Winning may never get old, but the Trojans sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Areilla Bell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cameron Forgione, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Lynch, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Delaware Valley came out on top against Scranton on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Warriors were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over the Knights. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.
Holly Olcott made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Delaware Valley got a massive performance out of Gabriella Stahlmann, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run and five RBI. Those five RBI gave Stahlmann a new career-high. Emma Weimer also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Delaware Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
North Pocono pushed their record up to 13-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Delaware Valley, their record now sits at 11-6.
Delaware Valley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: North Pocono has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .450. It's a different story for Delaware Valley, though, as they've only averaged .360. Will they be able to contain North Pocono's hitters?
Everything went North Pocono's way against Delaware Valley in their previous matchup back in April, as North Pocono made off with a 12-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
