Discovery Canyon came out on top in a nail-biter against Air Academy on Monday and snuck past 50-48. This was a revenge contest for Discovery Canyon, as the team was forced to settle for a 58-50 loss when these two played two weeks ago.
Discovery Canyon's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Noah Eckles, who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Nick Martidis, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Defeat or not, Air Academy got some senior leadership from Max Howery and Noah Hellem. Howery scored 19 points along with three steals, while Hellem. scored 19 points. That was a full 39.6% of Air Academy's points, marking the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Discovery Canyon is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Air Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-13.
