Baseball Recap: The Daniel Academy Drops Season-High Score on Guadalupe Centers

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask The Daniel Academy). They were the clear victors by a 23-3 margin over the Guadalupe Centers Aztecs on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Lions considering their one-run performance the match before.

Emerson Howdeshell was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Howdeshell was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs while going 3-for-3. Those hits were his first of the season.

In other batting news, The Daniel Academy let Noah Maldonado and Aiden Foy run wild. Maldonado fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-4, while Foy fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-3. Those home runs marked the first that Maldonado launched this season. Another player making a difference was Hud Hanson, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

The Daniel Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .727. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win snapped The Daniel Academy's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-5 record. As for Guadalupe Centers, they dropped their record down to 0-6 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Guadalupe Centers will take on Van Horn at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Aztecs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season.
