The Destin Sharks pushed their score all the way to 55 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Pine Forest 59-55.
Destin lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Bryson Nixon, who scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Traiton Mauffray, who scored 12 points along with six assists and three steals.
Destin's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Pine Forest, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a massive bump to their 10-9 record this season.
Destin and Freeport will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Freeport is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Pine Forest will take on Choctawhatchee at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Choctawhatchee is ranked 247th, while Pine Forest is ranked 262nd).
