Basketball Recap: Christian Academy of Madison Takes a Loss

Christian Academy of Madison was the 28-21 winner over Cannelton when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Christian Academy of Madison Defenders took a 44-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cannelton Bulldogs on Saturday. The Defenders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Christian Academy of Madison lost, don't look at Lindsey Gross. Despite the final result, she posted eight points and nine rebounds. Gross has been hot recently, having posted nine or more boards the last three times she's played.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cannelton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kylie Anastasiades, who had 19 points, to go along with seven boards and five assists. That makes it four consecutive games in which Anastasiades has scored at least a third of Cannelton's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Hale, who put up 11 points, to go along with six steals and five assists.

Christian Academy of Madison's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Cannelton, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-7.

Christian Academy of Madison wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 55-38 loss against Crothersville on the 9th. As for Cannelton, they will host Columbus Christian at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
