After both having extra time off, the Bolton Central Eagles and the Willsboro Central Warriors will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 5:00 p.m. on December 29th. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Bolton Central has five straight wins, Willsboro Central has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Bolton Central has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 23 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 72-17 victory over Johnsburg Central at home. Given Bolton Central's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 182nd, while Johnsburg Central is ranked 439th), the result last Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bolton Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jadynn Egloff led the charge by scoring 15 points. The game was Egloff's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Daken, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Willsboro Central suffered a tough 47-21 loss at the hands of Chazy last Friday.
Bolton Central's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Willsboro Central, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
Bolton Central couldn't quite finish off Willsboro Central in their previous matchup back in February and fell 46-43. Can Bolton Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
