The Mathis Pirates lost against the San Diego Vaqueros on December 1st, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Mathis took a 57-41 bruising from San Diego. That's two games in a row now that Mathis has lost by exactly 16 points.
Among those leading the charge was Estevan Barrientes, who scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Austen Reynolds, who scored 12 points.
Mathis' defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for San Diego, their win bumped their record up to 14-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mathis will be home for the holidays to greet Skidmore-Tynan at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Skidmore-Tynan focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Friday. San Diego will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Laredo LBJ at 12:30 p.m. on December 30th.
