Calvert has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Great Mills Hornets at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Calvert will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 258th, while Great Mills is ranked 56th).
Last Wednesday, things could have been worse for Calvert, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 67-51 loss to Northern. Calvert has not had much luck with Northern recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Meanwhile, Great Mills strolled past Oakland Mills with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 60-44.
DeAndre Dorsey continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 21 points along with seven assists and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Cameron Brooks, who scored six points along with 15 rebounds and eight blocks.
Calvert's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Great Mills, their victory bumped their record up to 10-3.
Calvert was taken down by Great Mills 70-25 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Calvert was down 42-19.
