Basketball Recap: Theo Busenitz Key Part of a Team Effort in Panthers Win

There's no place like home for Newton HomeSchool, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They snuck past Non Varsity Opponent with a 46-40 win on Monday. This was a revenge game for the Panthers: when they faced off against Non Varsity Opponent back in January, they had to take a 62-32 defeat.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Newton HomeSchool to victory, but perhaps none more so than Theo Busenitz, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 boards. What's more, Busenitz also racked up three assists, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Caleb Mayhew, who posted 11 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals.

Newton HomeSchool smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 15 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Newton HomeSchool is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 4-11 record this season.

Looking ahead, Newton HomeSchool will face off against Chanute Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Non Varsity Opponent, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-50 loss against Legacy Academy on the 3rd.
