Waxahachie has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the DeSoto Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Waxahachie knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten contests -- so hopefully DeSoto likes a good challenge.
Even though Cedar Hill scored an imposing 59 points on Tuesday, Waxahachie still came out on top. Waxahachie took down Cedar Hill 74-59. Given Waxahachie's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while Cedar Hill is ranked 119th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
King Grace was his usual excellent self, scoring 28 points along with five rebounds and two steals. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last eight times he's played. Parker Jefferson was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 16 rebounds.
DeSoto posted their biggest victory since November 11, 2023 on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Skyline with a sharp 50-27 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for DeSoto.
Waxahachie pushed their record up to 17-8 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.4 points per game. As for DeSoto, their victory bumped their record up to 14-10.
Waxahachie beat DeSoto 70-63 in their previous matchup on January 2nd. The rematch might be a little tougher for Waxahachie since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
