The Clarksville Wildcats were the 71-69 winner over the Rossview Hawks when they last played one another two weeks ago, but their luck changed this time around. Clarksville took a hard 54-39 fall against the Hawks on Friday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Clarksville has scored all season.
Clarksville's loss came despite strong showings from Kirk Weatherford and Kellen J Howard. Weatherford scored 14 points, while Howard scored 15 points. Howard is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last six games he's played. Sheldon Huber was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
It was another big night for Landon Hankemeier, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds for Rossview. Hankemeier hasn't dropped below 15 points for 11 straight games. Another player making a difference was Jacob Edwards, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds.
Clarksville has not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for Rossview, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 16-9.
Clarksville will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Northeast is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for Rossview, they will head out on the road to take on the Yellow Jackets at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Springfield is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
