The Centennial Coyotes's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight defeat. Their tough 64-39 defeat to Willow Canyon might stick with them for a while. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Centennial in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now lost three in a row.
Several Coyotes players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kaleia Young, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Young has scored all season. Akasha Prpich was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
It was another big night for Launa Rogers, who shot 4-for-7 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds for Willow Canyon. It was the first time this season that Rogers scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Kandace O Connell, who scored 11 points along with five steals.
Centennial's loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Willow Canyon, their victory bumped their record up to 14-6.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Sunrise Mountain the next time they take the court. Willow Canyon will head out to face Sunrise Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, while Centennial will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
