Escondido extended their losing streak to eight on Tuesday, dropping them down to 7-12-1. They fell 10-6 to the Ramona Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-1 back in April.

Ayla Ruvalcaba was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She pitched 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one run and one double.
Ruvalcaba wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jasmine James, who went 2-for-4 with one double. Another was Aubrey McDaniel, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
As for Ramona, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-9. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 7-12-1 Escondido and 8-10 Fallbrook.
On Ramona's side, Braelyn Bolen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and five unearned) runs on six hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Serenity Garcia-Hayes, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March. Evie Brown was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Escondido will welcome Fallbrook at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season. As for Ramona, they will challenge Valley Center at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Jaguars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.14 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
