First place in 2A Mid-State standings is up for grabs this week, as
Jordan-Matthews sits just 0.5 games back of
Eastern Randolph.
The Jets had a successful week, as they won two total games to lead the league. Jordan-Matthews beat
Hillside 13-3 and
Chatham Central 8-5.
The Jets stole 28 bases this week, adding to their league-leading 30 steals on the year.
Jordan-Matthews still leads the league with just 12 base hits given up over the entire season, but
Reidsville gave up the fewest hits in the league over the past week (seven).
Seven batters hit over .400 this week. Leading the pack was Casey Golden, who hit .833 by going 5-for-6.
The Jets'
Justin Kidd racked up five RBIs this week, more than any other hitter. Kidd has six RBIs this season, first in the league.
Josh Hudson struck out 12 in Jordan-Matthews' 8-5 win over Chatham Central on March 7.
Ryan Kivett was an RBI machine on Friday, as he knocked in four runs during the Wildcats' 5-3 win over
Bartlett Yancey. He went 2-for-3 and scored one run.
