The Oak Hill Rams are taking a road trip to challenge the Bunkie Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
Friday just wasn't the day for Oak Hill's offense. They fell 4-0 to Grant on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Rams' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Oak Hill saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madee Danzy, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Bunkie came tearing into Thursday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 19-2 win. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by six runs or more this season.
Rylee Townsend made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other pitching news, Aubree Ducote looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Bunkie got a massive performance out of Brianna LaBorde, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Ava Webb was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 3-for-5.
Bunkie kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive games.
Bunkie pushed their record up to 16-11 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Oak Hill, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.
Oak Hill suffered a grim 12-6 defeat to Bunkie in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
