The Riverside Vikings will challenge the Dunmore Bucks at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Riverside headed into their last contest having not scored more than two runs for three straight, but Honesdale let them put that streak behind them. The Vikings blew past the Hornets 19-3 on Tuesday. The Vikings have beaten the Hornets the last seven times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Hornets has come to flipping the script.
Shelby Lewis made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off ten hits (and only one walk). Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, five RBI, and one run. Those RBI were her first of the season.
In other batting news, Riverside got a massive performance out of Kate Reynolds, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most RBI Reynolds has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Raigan Monahan, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Riverside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Dunmore made easy work of Lakeland on Tuesday and carried off a 14-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bucks, who have now won four matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.
Riverside's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-3. As for Dunmore, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
Riverside couldn't quite get it done against Dunmore when the teams last played back in May of 2025 as they fell 8-4. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
