Bellefontaine is 1-9 against the Pioneers since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Bellefontaine Chieftains will be playing in front of their home fans against the Jonathan Alder Pioneers at 1:30 p.m. Hopefully Bellefontaine focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Tuesday.
Bellefontaine struggled with assists on Tuesday (the Warriors had ten more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Bellefontaine received a tough blow as they fell 52-35 to the Warriors. Bellefontaine has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite their loss, Bellefontaine saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Lexi Robinson, who scored 13 points, was perhaps the best of all. Parker Penhorwood was another key contributor, scoring four points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Jonathan Alder waltzed into their match on Saturday with two straight wins but they left with three. They blew past Kenton Ridge 54-27 on the road. That 27 point margin sets a new team best for Jonathan Alder this season.
Bellefontaine now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Jonathan Alder, their victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-6.
Bellefontaine was able to grind out a solid victory over the Pioneers in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 48-40. Does Bellefontaine have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pioneers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
