The KIPP King Lions had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 37.6 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Wednesday. They secured a 65-61 W over Leadership. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
KIPP King found their leader in underclassman Ja'mauri Woodfolk, who scored 29 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Woodfolk hasn't dropped below 15 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Ledezma, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds.
KIPP King pushed their record up to 14-7 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 82.0 points per game. As for Leadership, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. KIPP King will face off against the Trojan-Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Madison Park Academy has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 19. As for Leadership, they will head out on the road to take on the at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
