Basketball Recap: Lakeside Christian's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

Lakeside Christian can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Monday. They came out on top against the Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate Phoenix by a score of 44-35.

Lakeside Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ayva David out in front who dropped a triple-double on 16 points, 12 boards, and 12 steals. David is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mauricia Climes, who posted five points along with 15 boards and six steals.

Lakeside Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 31 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Despite the defeat, Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jasani Andrews had 15 points in addition to five assists and three steals. That was a full 42.9% of Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points.

Lakeside Christian's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.

Lakeside Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 43-33 victory against Foundation Christian Academy on the 17th. As for Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bishop McLaughlin Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on December 27th.
