Baseball Recap: Desert View Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Desert View had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They never let the Pueblo Warriors get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory. Considering the Jaguars have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Jorge Zazueta made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Zazueta was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Orlando Pinedo was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Joshua Valenzuela, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.

Desert View was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pueblo only posted a batting average of .167.

Desert View's record now sits at 10-4. As for Pueblo, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

Desert View will take on Flowing Wells at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pueblo, they will challenge Cienega at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cienega has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.42 runs per game on average), something Pueblo will no doubt try to take advantage of.
