Having just played yesterday, the Rocky River Ravens will jump right back in to play the Whitefield Academy WolfPack at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. Rocky River knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Whitefield Academy likes a good challenge.
Even though Mt. Bethel Christian Academy scored an imposing 59 points on Thursday, Rocky River still came out on top. Rocky River skirted past Mt. Bethel Christian Academy 62-59. The win was all the more spectacular given Rocky River's disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 249th in North Carolina, while Mt. Bethel Christian Academy is ranked 74th in Georgia).
Rocky River got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Markiest Houston out in front who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds. Houston has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Shamari Johnson, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Whitefield Academy can finally bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They secured a 53-47 W over Oconee County. The win was just what Whitefield Academy needed coming off of a 64-44 loss in their prior game.
Rocky River's win bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Whitefield Academy, their win bumped their record up to 5-9.
