Baseball Recap: Chico Victorious

Chico's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They walked away with a 19-15 win over the Electra Tigers. The Dragons haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Emiliano Ledesma made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Ledesma was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Talon Smith, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and one triple. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Landon Cuevas was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

Chico always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .522. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Chico's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Electra, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chico will welcome Archer City at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Electra, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Windthorst at 5:00 p.m. on the 20th.
