The Bennett Tigers lost against the Fort Lupton Bluedevils back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Bennett suffered a tough 66-46 loss at the hands of Fort Lupton. Bennett has not had much luck with Fort Lupton recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Bennett lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jayden Ivory. Despite the final result, he scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Francis, who scored nine points.
Fort Lupton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Javon Gonzales led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. Gonzales hasn't dropped below two steals for 12 straight games. Shane Callahan was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with seven assists and four steals.
Bennett's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Fort Lupton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-2 record this season.
Bennett will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against DSST: Montview at 7:00 p.m. on February 5th. DSST: Montview will roll in looking for their 19th straight victory, something Bennett surely won't give up without a fight. As for Fort Lupton, they will head out on the road to take on Sheridan at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Sheridan has struggled recently with 13 losses in a row, while Fort Lupton will arrive with three straight wins.
