Brackenridge is 0-3 against Seguin since April of 2016 but things could change on Monday. The Eagles will challenge the Matadors at 10:45 a.m. Brackenridge has given up an average of 16.8 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Brackenridge fell victim to Burbank and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 16-0 to the Bulldogs. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Eagles' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Meanwhile, Seguin waltzed into their matchup on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Mustangs 16-1. Considering the Matadors have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Kaelyn Gutierrez made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Seguin got a massive performance out of Braelyn Wieding, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Brylee Wieding, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Seguin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Brackenridge's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Seguin, they now have a winning record of 11-10-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Brackenridge has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Seguin struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Brackenridge suffered a grim 16-1 defeat to Seguin in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
