The Marco Island Academy Rays's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They were beaten by Southwest Florida Christian 84-55. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Marco Island Academy in their matchups with Southwest Florida Christian: they've now lost six in a row.
Several Rays players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Grayson Jones, who scored 20 points. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for him. Lincoln LaButte was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Marco Island Academy's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-6. As for Southwest Florida Christian, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marco Island Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Southwest Florida Christian at 5:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. As for Southwest Florida Christian, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Out-of-Door Academy at 5:30 p.m. on December 19th.
