Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a  season-high score is even better (just ask Calhoun Academy). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Grace Christian Eagles  a   15-0 shutout  on Thursday. With that  victory, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 6.6  runs per game.
 Caiden Farmer was a major factor no matter where he played. He  struck out nine batters over  three innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. That's the first time  he hasn't allowed a single  hit since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring two  runs while going 1-for-2. Calhoun Academy is undefeated when  Farmer posts two or  more  runs, but 4-7 otherwise.
 In other batting news, Calhoun Academy got a  massive  performance out of  Jake Allen, who  went a perfect 2-for-2 with four  RBI, two  runs,  and one  triple. Those  four  RBI gave  Allen a new career-high. Another player making a difference was  Layton Logan, who  scored three  runs and  stole two bases while going 1-for-2.
 Calhoun Academy  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .682. That's the best  OBP they've posted all season.
Calhoun Academy pushed their record up to 7-7 with the  win, which was their third straight  at home. The  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Grace Christian,  they are  on  a  nine-game losing streak  (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.
 Both  teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Calhoun Academy will take on North Sunflower Academy at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. As for Grace Christian, they will have a little extra prep time after the  defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Newton County Academy at 7:00  p.m.  on April 14.
