Basketball Recap: Show Low Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Jaylee Boyce and Raquel Wilson

It was a proper cat-fight when Show Low faced off against Pusch Ridge Christian Academy on Saturday. The Show Low Cougars took a 49-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pusch Ridge Christian Academy Lions. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2021.

Show Low's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Raquel Wilson, who posted 18 points along with seven steals and five rebounds, and Jaylee Boyce, who went 6 of 10 on her way to 15 points and eight boards. Wilson's morning made it 11 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Even though they lost, Show Low smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 13 consecutive games.

Pusch Ridge Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nicole NJoroge, who earned 14 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Hannah Johnson, who scored nine points and six steals.

Show Low dropped their record down to 9-5 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Pusch Ridge Christian Academy, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 11-4.

Show Low didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 60-18 victory against Florence on the 9th. Pusch Ridge Christian Academy has also already played their next contest, a 44-38 win against Sabino on the 14th.
