Superior is 8-2 against Miami since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Panthers will face off against the Vandals at 3:45 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Superior had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 21-run drubbing they dealt Duncan on Monday. The Panthers blew past the Wildkats 24-3. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Wildkats: they've now won seven in a row.
Miami not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 12, 2025 (when they won 19-2). Everything went their way against Wickenburg as they made off with a 10-2 win.
Tessa Roberts made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 17 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Andrea Swann, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those stolen bases were her first of the season. Mercedes Mata was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Miami kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wickenburg only managed two.
Miami now has a winning record of 3-2-1. As for Superior, their record now sits at 5-0-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Superior has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Miami struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Superior got the 'W' when the teams last played back in March of 2025 against Miami by a conclusive 16-6 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
