On Monday, the Parkside Eagles faced the KIPP College Prep Panthers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Parkside took down the Panthers 68-53. Winning may never get old, but Parkside sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Parkside got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Semaj Marshall out in front who scored 15 points. Marshall is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kasson James, who scored 14 points.
KIPP College Prep lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Joey Mitchell, who scored eight points. Another player making a difference was Kaden Butler, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Parkside's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-8. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.5 points per game. As for KIPP College Prep, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-11.
Parkside won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Titans at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. Friendship Tech Prep Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 504 points over their last seven games. As for KIPP College Prep, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. Thurgood Marshall Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
