Basketball Recap: Fernandina Beach's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

Fernandina Beach won the last time they faced Atlantic Coast, and Jesse Basse did his part to make sure it happened again. The Fernandina Beach Pirates were the clear victor by a 60-39 margin over the Atlantic Coast Stingrays on Saturday thanks in part to Basse, who went 7 of 14 on his way to 18 points and eight rebounds. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game.

The team also got some help courtesy of Dominik Dunlap, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 15 points. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.

Several Stingrays players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ben Ward, who posted 12 points. Another player making a difference was Da'Juan Thompson, who put up seven points and six rebounds.

With the victory, Fernandina Beach broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-5. As for Atlantic Coast, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

Fernandina Beach wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 61-41 loss against Bartram Trail on the 3rd. As for Atlantic Coast, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 49-33 win against Middleburg on the 4th.
