Chariho extended their home winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Jaxson Vachon. The Chargers walked away with a 3-1 win over Barrington on Tuesday with plenty of help from Vachon, who had 24 digs and one assist. He has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last 14 times he's played.
Chariho was especially dominant in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-17, 23-25, 25-17.
Meanwhile, Bishop Hendricken faced North Smithfield in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Hawks blew past the Northmen 3-0.
The match finished with set scores of 25-8, 25-17, 25-14.
Chariho better keep an eye on Santiago Harrington. He was instrumental in Bishop Hendricken's win, getting nine digs and two assists.
Bishop Hendricken couldn't miss and finished the game having scored on 41.1% of their attack attempts. The last time their hitting percentage was this high was back in April of 2024.
Chariho's record is now 4-2. As for Bishop Hendricken, their record now sits at 4-1.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's matchup: Chariho has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 8.5 aces per game. However, it's not like Bishop Hendricken struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.4 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Chariho couldn't quite get it done against Bishop Hendricken in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 3-1. Can the Chargers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
