The Sahuarita Mustangs entered their tilt with the Canyon del Oro Dorados with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Sahuarita blew past Canyon del Oro 42-14 at home. Sahuarita might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won four contests by 21 points or more this season.
It was another big night for Kealey Myhre, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Sahuarita's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Camila Villalobos, who scored four points along with 18 rebounds and three steals.
Several Dorados players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Halie Fuller, who scored three points along with 11 rebounds and five blocks. Those 11 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Madisen Fleury was another key contributor, scoring three points along with four steals.
Even though they lost, Canyon del Oro were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Sahuarita's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Canyon del Oro, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sahuarita will take on Apache Junction at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Apache Junction comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Canyon del Oro, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against American Leadership Academy - Gilbert North at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully American Leadership Academy - Gilbert North focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Thursday.
