Tualatin hasn't had much luck against West Linn recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Timberwolves will square off against the Lions at 5:00 p.m. Tualatin is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Tualatin came up short against Lakeridge and fell 12-9.
Meanwhile, West Linn entered their tilt with Oregon City on Monday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Pioneers, sneaking past 3-1. The three-run effort marked the Lions' lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Avery Wolf spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up ten Ks. Those ten strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
At the plate, Vivienne McGraw and Meg Allen did most of the damage at the plate: McGraw went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Allen went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most hits McGraw has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Sakys, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
West Linn pushed their record up to 14-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Tualatin, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-6.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Tualatin hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. However, it's not like West Linn struggles in that department as they've averaged .349. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Tualatin couldn't quite finish off West Linn when the teams last played last Friday and fell 4-2. Can the Timberwolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
