The Elmore County Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 52-28 walloping at the hands of Marbury. Elmore County has not had much luck with Marbury recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Marbury was led to victory by Nasiyah Jernigan and Justice Blackmon. Jernigan dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds, while Blackmon scored 19 points along with six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Blackmon has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Elizabeth Woodfin, who scored three points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Elmore County has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Marbury, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-5.
Elmore County won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Holtville at 5:30 p.m. on January 19th. Holtville is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Marbury, they will head out on the road to take on Chilton County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
