If the Ada-Borup Cougars were riding high off their 81-59 takedown of the Mahnomen/Waubun Thunderbirds last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Ada-Borup wound up with the same score they had in their last game (81-59), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite the loss, Ada-Borup had strong showings from Mason Larson, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals, and Austin McCraven, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. Larson continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Baron Odden, who scored six points along with three steals.
Noah Asuma continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Cherry, going 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 30 points and 0 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Asuma has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Asuma, who scored 16 points along with five steals.
Ada-Borup's defeat dropped their record down to 14-3. As for Cherry, the win (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 19-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ada-Borup will take on Fosston at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Ada-Borup focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Saturday. As for Cherry, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Chisholm at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cherry knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 15 matches -- so hopefully Chisholm likes a good challenge.
