Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Canterbury Crusaders, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a 62-48 bruising from the Eagles on Wednesday. Canterbury was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Indian Rocks Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2022.
Canterbury's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zy'nasia Alhuzaifi, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds. Alhuzaifi is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last eight games she's played. Ja'maria Long was another key contributor, scoring 22 points along with seven steals.
Canterbury has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season. As for Indian Rocks Christian, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-10.
Canterbury does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Indian Rocks Christian, they will take on Keswick Christian at TBD on Friday. Indian Rocks Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 384th, while Keswick Christian is ranked 79th).
