Baseball Game Preview: Deer Lakes Lancers vs. Freeport Yellowjackets

For the second straight game, Deer Lakes will face off against Freeport. The Lancers will be playing at home against the Yellowjackets at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Deer Lakes and Freeport meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. The Lancers walked away with a 12-7 win over the Yellowjackets.

Ben Shurina and Jake Fleischer did most of the damage at the plate: Shurina scored a run while going 2-for-5, while Fleischer scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. What's more, Fleischer posted two hits, the most he's had since back in May of 2024.

Freeport now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Deer Lakes, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
