Baseball Recap: Rutherford Gets the Win

Rutherford's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Walton Braves, sneaking past 2-1. This was a revenge game for the Rams: when they faced off against the Braves back in February, they had to take a 8-3 defeat.

Tyler Harry made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Rutherford is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-10 otherwise. Harry was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

Harry wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Connor Ward, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Rutherford's win bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Walton, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-10-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rutherford will challenge Bozeman at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Walton, they will square off against Florala at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
