Smithton is 8-2 against the Tigers since February of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Smithton Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Green Ridge Tigers at 5:30 p.m. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Smithton pushed their score all the way to 56 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 61-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Stover. While losing is never fun, Smithton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 376th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 115th).
Meanwhile, Green Ridge's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight defeat. They fell to Sacred Heart 57-51.
Smithton's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Green Ridge, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-6 record this season.
Smithton didn't have too much breathing room in their match against the Tigers in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 57-51 victory. Will Smithton repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
